This is a very enigmatic and beautifully complex Pinot Noir.
These particular coastal mountain vineyards in Sonoma are known for more fog and wild winds than any other site, which has resulted in grapes with lusher, thick skin, higher acidity, intense finish, and bold flavors. Zestfully concentrated with supple fruits — and smooth to the very last drop.

A big yet graceful style, this is notably rich and concentrated, with ripe blackberry, wild berry, black licorice and cedary oak notes. Still quite young, raw and tannic, yet the flavors sail on, on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2021. - James Laube (Wine Spectator)

The 2013 growing season was early and all-around excellent. A warm, dry spring brought early bud break which helped with the canopy vigor and berry size, which then created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set under sunny skies. Our grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed for over four hours. (This is the same press cycle used in making champagne). Only 10% of the wine was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation in order to preserve the brightness of the wine and gain just enough roundness on the palate.
